I have found a few products and tricks that I could not live without. Being a Makeup Artist, I get free things sent to me all the time in the hopes that I use them on Celebrity clients. Some are good, some are bad, and some are downright amazing. Some I even find on my own. Here they are.
1. Origins White Tea Anti Aging Facial Moisturizer
This is the creamiest most fantastic moisturizer I have used so far, and I have used a ton. I use this in my professional kit on actors as well as on myself at home. I can’t live without it now.
2. Trader Joe’s Shaving Cream
I bought this because I had two screaming kids and could not fathom a second trip to the supermarket to purchase my usual shaving cream, so I bought it and tried it. And holy smokes, I am forever changed. I’ll be damned if Trader Joe’s has not found the perfect recipe for a shaving cream. My legs have never been softer and they no longer get a single red mark like they do from all my previous brands.
3. Farmhouse Fresh Sugar Scrub and Heel Glaze
All natural, edible (supposedly), and delicious on your body. This line is actually my favorite for every product that they have, but right now with my dry heels and skin, these two are standing above the rest. Seriously great skin all over when you use these guys. The packaging is ridiculously cute too. Check out there Sweet Milk Moisturizer, it’s in the cutest glass bottle of all time.
4. Rosebud Salve
This one is a no brainer with actors and models. No one leaves the house without this in their purse. If you are still using regular chapstick, let me educate you. Chapstick is made from nasty yucky ingredients all mixed in with a load of wax. You will end up having to use it all day long, every day for the rest of your life just to prevent the cracked lips that it leaves you with when they are not covered in wax. Rosebud is hydrating, enhances your natural lip color, heals scrapes and burns, is great for moisturizing cuticles, zaps pimples, and can be used anywhere on the body. It’s a miracle in a tube. Miracle. Tube.
5. EO Natural Hand Sanitizer
With all the recent data on the current Sanitizers and Anti Bacterial soaps containing the harmful chemical Triclosan this is a no brainer. Using chemical sanitizers has shown in studies to:
- Alter hormone regulation in animals
- Contribute to the development of antibiotic-resistant germs
- Be harmful to the immune system
- Impair Muscle Function
- Many other unknown problems pending further testing
Chemical sanitizers and soaps have been systematically taken from shelves by the FDA but not all of them, and this product is such a great replacement. It’s all natural but still kills 99% of germs. I have used many all natural attempts but this one actually makes my hands feel and smell clean. And I am guilt free when pouring it all over my children and their toys. 🙂
6. Skin Food
This is also one that all Celebrity Makeup Artists have in their kit. It is SOOOO THICK, good for the skin anywhere on your body, and can even be used on the face. A few times a week I use it as a night cream. Don’t be afraid of its thickness, it does not cause breakouts. Your skin will literally drink this product up. Professionally, I use this around the actor or model’s eyes, on their collar bone for shine, and on arms and legs to make the skin look healthy and glowing. If you are planing a girls night out, lather your body in this before you put on your dress and you will look like a perfect 10.
7. Homemade Silky Shiny Hair Rinse
Combine a little Apple Cider Vinegar with The Mother and a little Baking Soda, swish around and rinse your hair with it. Your tangled and unmanageable freak show will come out smooth and refreshed feeling. I do this 2 times a week on days when I don’t shampoo (it acts like a shampoo and picks up oils from your scalp). And since having the newborn “All my hair is falling out and feels like straw” phase hit me like a ton of bricks, this is the all time remedy.
