Smoothies are the one and only way I can get the last remaining items I feel Jack won’t eat into his diet. The only veggies he likes are peas, corn and carrots. And while peas are great, he needs tons of other veggies to have a healthy life. So, I have a basic recipe for smoothies and I just add whatever I like to that each day and it always turns out great. Here it is:

1/2 Banana

Scoop of frozen raspberries

Scoop of frozen blueberries

Spinach, 2 handfuls

Coconut Water or Almond Milk (YUM!)

Ground Flaxseed* (Read about flaxseed below)

He drinks it so fast it’s amazing. He loves his morning smoothie, and I give it to him for his snack time so he has a very healthy snack full of veggies and fruits. Some days I add mango, watermelon or strawberries, maybe even some yogurt, chia seeds or raw honey. No matter what you add, it will be a healthy daily dose of much needed vitamins for your little one.

*Flaxseed: A quick note – You can’t taste it so putting it in your baby’s smoothie won’t turn them off to smoothies forever. And the benefits they get from having flaxseed in their diet is immeasurable. Flaxseed is EXTREMELY high in Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids, Antioxidants and Fiber. (By extremely I mean up to 75 to 800 times more than other plant foods!!!) It helps prevent and fight Cancer, Heart Disease and Diabetes. You don’t just have to limit using it in smoothies either, you can sprinkle it on their oatmeal, brown rice, couscous, whatever you like. And hey, maybe eat some yourself?
