Don’t freak out, this post is just to bring attention to a potential issue. I feed Jack wild Salmon as well as Cod and other types of fish multiple times a week. Always fresh, always wild caught. So of course I thought I am doing the healthiest thing for my little one, which sadly may not be the case. Radiation leakage from the Fukushima Daichi power plant stemming from the 2011 tsunami is now looking to have spread wider than previously thought. The FDA has yet to begin testing fish in our waters to find out the exact levels of contamination (which is yet another reason to dislike them more than I already do) so we don’t really have a clear picture yet. Here is the most recent contamination areas effected:

So, yeah, it doesn’t look great. But again, don’t freak out either. Just be aware of the problem and sadly maybe research which fish is safe to eat for now before you buy.

And sorry for such a downer post! 🙂

Smoothies are the one and only way I can get the last remaining items I feel Jack won’t eat into his diet. The only veggies he likes are peas, corn and carrots. And while peas are great, he needs tons of other veggies to have a healthy life. So, I have a basic recipe for smoothies and I just add whatever I like to that each day and it always turns out great. Screen Shot 2013-08-02 at 12.19.12 PM

Jack, being a 17 month old baby, he’s tough to figure out when it comes to food. But HELLO, this snack is on the top of his list right now and takes about 60 seconds to make. It is so refreshing and full of flavor I think it may be the perfect summertime snack. I actually fight him for bites because I love it so much too.

1. Chop medium-small pieces of watermelon

2. Finely chop basil and add to the watermelon

3. Sprinkle fat free feta on top

Mix all ingredients with a spoon and serve. So delicious!!!

All Natural Cleaner

When I use most floor cleaners to mop my floors, I’m usually left walking around on a sticky but clean surface. I don’t have hours to clean the floor and then rinse them all over again with water to remove any residue. I like to clean, but I don’t LOVE to clean. Not that much. And, you already know I have stopped all usage of toxic chemicals in my house as well, so I have been using Wholefoods bought natural stuff. This STILL leaves my floor a tad bit sticky after I use it. Clean, but sticky.

SO! Here is the easiest recipe of all time and it is 100% natural and won’t cause harm to your health or your family’s health AND gets your floor (and house) super clean and bacteria free!!!!!!!

1. Fill sink or bucket with warm water

2. Add 1 healthy squirt Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap

3. Add 1 cup White Vinegar

4. Add 10 drop Tea Tree Oil

5. Add the juice from from 1 Lemon

That’s it folks. Clean floors, clean house, clean toilets, clean conscious, happy planet, happy baby, happy husband, and happy mommy. No sticky residue, and the combination of ingredients will have your house sparkling and germ free. Enjoy!
