Homemade Lemon Sugar Face Scrub

There are many many reasons why this is an ultimate weekly face scrub you should be using, and a REALLY easy and REALLY cheap way to have better skin. Here are a few different recipes that I love, starting with the easiest first. These scrubs can all be made with items from your kitchen and are completely natural and chemical free.

Recipe 1:

1/2 fresh lemon
1 TBSP of granulated sugar
1 Cotton Round

Cut your lemon in half. Squeeze the juice onto a cotton round until it is fairly wet. Sprinkle sugar on top. The more sugar you use, the more exfoliating it will be.

*For sensitive skin, add a little water to the cotton round to dilute the lemon juice.

Scrub in a circular motion for a few minutes. I sometimes leave it on my face while I do other things, like brush my teeth or fold laundry. The longer it stays on, the better it works at cleaning pores and evening out skin tone. You will feel tingling and maybe a little stinging, just wash it with water if this is too much for you and next time add water to the cotton round to dilute the lemon juice.

Benefits of the Ingredients:
Lemon – A natural source of Vitamin C; an ingredient commonly used to lighten sun and age spots and even out skin tone; A natural astringent that tightens pores and brightens the complexion.
Sugar – A natural exfoliator; a natural source of glycolic acid which evens out skin tone, cleans pores, and improves overall skin texture by removing dead, dull skin cells.

Recipe 2:

1/2 fresh lemon
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of organic RAW honey
1 medium sized bowl

Add lemon juice and olive oil in to a bowl and mix together. Add the honey and wisk or stir quickly until the ingredients blend together into a medium thick consistency. You can add or subtract the amount of olive oil and honey that you use depending on how thick you want your scrub to be. Add in the sugar and mix. If you sense that there is not enough sugar to get the scrubbing done, add a bit more. You can rub this on your face and rinse, OR use as a mask.

Benefits of the Ingredients:

All of the above benefits PLUS-

Olive Oil – High in Vitamin E which soothes and heals skin; a natural moisturizing ingredient often used for it’s anti-aging benefits.
Honey – A natural source of anti-oxidants making it a perfect ingredients for age preventions; a natural humectant so it locks water into the skin keeping the complexion hydrated; the antibacterial properties benefit acne-prone skin by reducing breakouts.
